Who runs this site

Chris in Madrid is run by Get Social Ltd, which is the data controller for anything described here. Get Social Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC255651.

What we hold, and where it comes from

If you email hola@chrisinmadrid.com, we hold your message, your name and email address, and when you wrote. That is the only way this site collects anything from you: there is no form and no sign-up.

If you work for a brand, agency or publication we might work with, we may hold your business contact details: name, job title, employer, work email and work phone. Some of those come from Apollo.io, a business contact database, and some from your organisation's own public pages.

Why, and on what basis

To reply to you and to work with you on a brand deal, which is the contract between us. To approach people at brands and agencies about working together, which is our legitimate interest. To keep financial records, which the law requires.

Who else handles it

Zoho hosts the hola@chrisinmadrid.com mailbox. Apollo.io is connected to that mailbox: it holds the business contacts we approach, logs the emails we send them, and can read messages sent to the mailbox, including yours, together with your name and email address and when you wrote. Under its own privacy policy it may add business contact details from a message to its contact database. If you would rather Apollo did not process your email, tell us at hola@chrisinmadrid.com, or contact Apollo at privacy@apollo.io.

Vercel hosts the site and the videos on it, and records standard server logs (IP address, browser, time of request) to run and secure the service. The videos play from Vercel's own storage, so nothing on this site loads from a social platform.

Cookies and analytics

The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising scripts. Page views are counted by Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and keeps nothing that identifies you: each day's count is built from a hash that changes daily, so it cannot tell the same visitor apart from one day to the next.

How long we keep it

Emails and business contact details: up to two years after our last contact with you, then deleted, or straight away if you ask. Records of a paid deal: up to seven years, as accounting law requires.

Outside the UK

Some of these providers store or process data outside the UK, in the United States among other places. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; each provider's own terms say which applies. Ask us for the details for a particular provider.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to our contacting you about working together (we stop straight away), and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Email hola@chrisinmadrid.com for any of these; we reply within a month.
